Sometimes it's not a good thing to be really good at many things. Because you can do anything you are often caught up in what you're currently doing. This produces a dilemma. There is satisfaction in a job well done. At the end of the day you can congratulate yourself that you got it all done and done well. Plus you will receive praise from those around you. So far so good. If it weren't for those times when a small doubt creeps in. "Is there something more I could be doing?" "Am I missing something?" " What am I here to do?"
Those question let you know that, although, you are doing well there may be something else you are meant to do because a sense of aliveness, of excitement is not present in your life. There is satisfaction and interest but not a feeling that every cell in your body is singing. Sounds romanticized but that is how it feels when you are doing what you came here to do. At times you feel so jazzed about what it that its hard to sleep because you want to keep doing what you love.
For each one of us there are things we are meant to do. In my experience it's a progression. In other words, at early stages of your life it could be one thing and a few years later it's something else and so on. But as you look back over your life you will see that each of those things was a preparation for the next thing until it all comes together. All of your experiences, skills and talents come together in an amazing amalgamation.
When I was very young I used to think that finding your calling in life was reserve for the lucky few. I wondered how they found "that thing." And, would I ever find it?
At each stage of life pay attention to what lights you up. I'm not talking about a momentary excitement. I mean a sense of being excited about life and all of its possibilities. Everything looks different and feels different. It feels as if the whole world just opened up for you and you can do anything you want. It's as if life is limitless. That's the feeling we are meant to have about our life. You can't chase it because it will elude you but you can follow the inner promptings you get. That is what will lead you to finding what you are here to do. That is the quest of a lifetime. The most exciting game in town. It's meant for you. Go for it!
