Kiss & Tell: Kiss Your Excuses Goodbye and Cozy Up to a Life You Love!
by Christina Waschko
My mom was -and sadly still is- a prisoner of “The Other’s syndrome!” When I grew up I needed to be careful about how to dress, what to say, how to behave, what I purchased etc. All because my mom was worried about what The Others, the neighbours, our friends or colleagues and acquaintances might be saying about me/us behind our back!
Is this what small town living in Germany does to you? I am not sure! All I know is, it was stressful growing up! Yet, today I am free!
If you are a (future) Motherpreneur and one of your reasons to hold back is the thought of suffering a ‘public humiliation’, keep on reading. You will be surprised to read about the real reason why you shouldn’t care about the others.
Let me start with the most obvious reason: Worrying about the opinion of others is a waste of precious time - Life is too short!
But the real reason might surprise you:
(Apologies for the upcoming harsh words. I am quoting my neighbour Mike. He, like no other, says it so eloquently)
"Christina, I give a rat's ass about what you are doing!"
This is the truth, the absolute truth:
Others don't really care about us!
Even if you think so. They don’t.
Others might glance at your dress. They may admire your front lawn (or not). They will visit your shop. They will read your article, they will check out your product or services. Furthermore? Nothing! If you don’t offer exactly what a client or customer needs or wants, nobody makes a big deal about you and your enterprise.
We live in a world where everybody is so worried about themselves, there is no room to worry about anybody else! Each and every one of us has their own challenges and hurdles to conquer.
And the few poor souls who take time out of their lives to leave nasty comments behind your back, pity them! You are way too strong and proud to worry about that! You are on a mission to live your best life. They are not!
As long as you don’t threaten my personal - and my family's- safety, wellbeing, property, freedom or finances- I'll give a rat's ass about what you are up to! Really? Really! And so does everybody else.
Don't let your perception of what we might be thinking of you hold you back from experiencing and living your big, fat or small and silly dreams or ideas!
We don't give a bazoola!
