I had the good fortune to stumble across a man named Charles Eisenstein and his book, The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible. For me it was life affirming. He articulated a dream I have carried in my heart for a very long time. I listened to his TedX Portland talk and other talks I found on YouTube. I couldn’t get enough.
What this pointed out to me is our dreams never go away. They might slumber for a bit but they are always there. And they are there to be paid attention to. I have said a few times that just because you can do something and be good at it doesn’t mean that it is the route to take forever. Each experience gives us skills and tools to be used in fulfilling our dream. And dreams change over time. I don’t mean to say that we come with one dream for our whole life. That is true for some. But the dream stays waiting to be given life. It’s your purpose.
So I am doing just that. Giving life to my dream. Something that I did in part and awhile ago and stopped because I needed the experience I’ve had with the events I have been doing up until now. All the pieces are now assembled. I am good to go.
It takes courage to switch gears. And I do need it. But when I think about fulfilling my dream I am home. In a way I am so fortunate to be in the latter part of my life. It’s now or never time.
I hope that when it’s time you, too, will shift gears and go for your dream. That you have the courage to let go of what you know, what you’ve always done, what you are known for, how the “world” sees you and begin to live your dream.
People have done the most “impractical”, “ridiculous”, “unrealistic”, “ impossible”, “risky” things and have been wildly successful in that it worked for them. They made it work because it had to. It was so much a part of them it was irresistible. The Universe always responds to “dreamers”. It loves and supports them because their energy is so focused and clear.
But……you have to let go of your fear. You have to love what you are doing so much that no other considerations carry any weight. Immerse yourself in your dream and nothing else will matter. And, if you stay with it long enough it will work. A warning - you can’t do this “a little bit”. You can be a holdout on your energy and focus. Then it definitely won’t work. It’s like being a little bit pregnant or a little bit dead. You either are or you aren’t. So with your dream. You are either in or you are out but there is no in between. This is where “ Don’t quit your day job.” doesn’t apply. Not for the faint of heart or those who want to play it safe. But fulfilling your purpose is what it is to be truly alive.
