Dreams often form our future and direct our paths in life.  Have you ever consider having a large number of children when you became an adult because large families consisted of an endless supply of love and happiness, but grew up to realize it was a childish dream?  Some people thought this and so did I when I was a child, but when you became an adult you felt like your world was overloaded and way too busy.  Yet, even as an adult there was always something special about large family gatherings and having those you love laughing, singing, eating and just having a wonderful time together.  Having happy people in your presence was the focus of the dream(s).

Adulthood and reality sets in and you remember having many dreams and experiences of helping others, dreams of making an impact, dreams of touching a life (or lots of lives) in the purest form, dreams of lifting a down trodden spirit and simply sitting beside the bed of an elderly/disabled person and listening to them talk as though they were afraid the day would come that no one would be there to listen as they share what they have inside.  What is it inside of you that grows with you as a person and just like aging the dream of being of service still exist?  You may even ask yourself why I am here or what was I created to do?  These questions are now front and center on your mind.

This is where dreams can become reality in life and Community Service is formed.  What you do with it and which form of Community Service is up to you.  Opportunities to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, speak kind word to the hurting or disillusioned and spending time with the elderly are just a few to choose from.  The forms of community service is vast in numbers and if you just look around a need will appear or will remind you of a former dream you experienced of helping others.  As a Community Service provider of Entrepreneurial Workshops in local shelters this chosen form of service became evident because there is such a great need to serve individuals who seek shelter from domestic abuse or other abuses they may have suffered.

Today I realized that those dreams of service as a child for me would lead to providing entrepreneurial and employment workshops to those who seek self-sufficiency for their lives and finances.  This is when I realized my dreams were directing me to this specific form of community service and it was confirmed by the many successful home based businesses that have been formed since we began the programs.

To those who dream and wake up wonder why you had the dream and what it means.  A bit of advice is just whisper softly to yourself “help me understand what my dream means?”  The right source will make in plain over time or will begin to open doors, placing people in your life or even assigning someone to confirm your dream.  When one or more happens be patient and follow the path and walk through the doors that will be opened for you.  One thing is sure, any service in your community helps to make a difference and an impact, so follow your dreams of service.
