The Rising Entrepreneur
by Jason Torres
The path towards entrepreneurship is most certainly not an easy one. There have been moments where I have wanted to quit, but I stand here today because of these three reasons:
The moment that I realized that I wanted to become an entrepreneur was after taking my first entrepreneurship class at the College of Charleston with Dr. Wyman. I knew immediately, after learning from seasoned entrepreneurs and hearing their stories, that I wanted to follow in their footsteps.
I had many fears and doubts about starting my own business and some still haunt me from time to time, such as- my mental strength to make the company a successful one; the embarrassment of possible failure; and, wondering if my goal is truly attainable. When these thoughts enter my mind, I take the time to sit down, take a breath to calm my mind, and then I ask myself the all-important question- “What is my vision for this company?”. When I’m able to see that beautiful image of my company’s vision and see what is truly possible, I’m provided with new energy to move forward. I’m reminded that I can’t give up; and that I can’t allow my fears to dictate my future.
Our goal with RAZ Productions is to build a company with a strong foundation and a culture that strives to help others with event and entertainment consulting. We also want to provide an environment that will allow for patrons to escape from their day-to-day worries so they can simply enjoy life and experience happiness. Lastly, we want to continue to uncover the hidden talent that is out there and provide a platform for them to thrive; hence the name RAZ, a word that traces back to Persian origin as meaning “secret”.
I remember the summer of my junior year of college when the idea of starting a business came to me. My strong interest in music and in the DJ world served as the initial inspiration for me to begin the creation. However, I had no idea where the inspiration would take me. Little did I realize it would take me on this incredible journey that I believe is only beginning.
