The ART of Entrepreneurship

In business, the focus is often on the facts and figures. There’s no doubt that’s critical, but from time to time, it wouldn’t hurt to take a step back and see what others are doing. I believe that stories have a way of connecting us and for those that are on the entrepreneurial journey, you may need that connection because the journey can often times be a lonely one.

It’s interesting because I used to get discouraged when I would hear stories of successful entrepreneurs, but I’ve come to understand that we need those stories because we can learn from them and the lessons they have gained in their journey.

With that being said, it’s my absolute pleasure to introduce to you all RD Weeks, founder of RAZ Productions. I hope his story resonates with you; and remember that we’re all creating our own stories.

Enjoy!

The path towards entrepreneurship is most certainly not an easy one. There have been moments where I have wanted to quit, but I stand here today because of these three reasons:

One,  I allowed myself to look back at where I began to realize what I have accomplished thus far.

Two, because of many individuals that have helped me along the way and have been rooting for me to reach my dream.

And three, knowing in my soul that this is what I want to do with my life, even if there are easier avenues out there, I made a commitment to this path.

I remember the summer of my junior year of college when the idea of starting a business came to me. My strong interest in music and in the DJ world served as the initial inspiration for me to begin the creation. However, I had no idea where the inspiration would take me. Little did I realize it would take me on this incredible journey that I believe is only beginning.

I had many fears and doubts about starting my own business and some still haunt me from time to time, such as- my mental strength to make the company a successful one; the embarrassment of possible failure; and, wondering if my goal is truly attainable.

When these thoughts enter my mind, I take the time to sit down, take a breath to calm my mind, and then I ask myself the all-important question- “What is my vision for this company?”. When I’m able to see that beautiful image of my company’s vision and see what is truly possible, I’m provided with new energy to move forward. I’m reminded that I can’t give up; and that I can’t allow my fears to dictate my future.
