KISS & TELL: Kissing our Excuses Goodbye and Cozy up to a Life we Love!

Here is what I will TELL you:

I sent The Best Man of All (aka husband) to Walmart. His shopping list included all our daily little enjoyments like milk, chocolate, fruits, cereal etc. Plus, I added another tiny, simple item to his list:  A mascara. Black! Waterproof! Below $10.00! It seemed to be easy enough, wouldn’t you agree?

Within half an hour of his arrival to the shop I received a desperate phone call. I could hear it in his voice.  Frustration, anger, indecisiveness. The man who is our rock, the man who makes decisions on a daily basis, the man I trust and love more than anybody faltered at the simple task of purchasing his wife the black, waterproof mascara!

His voice was panicky: “What do you want exactly, dynamic lashes? A butterfly effect? Clump free? A dazzling look? The sexy look, the colossus, the fresh look, the newest technology? Help me out here!”

I knew why he was confused: Too much choice! Information overload! Every cosmetic company offers the same product and promises the same result (enhancement of our eyes)! The only difference is the price, the packaging and the promises they make! No wonder The Best Man of All was startled, he experienced paralysis by analysis!

Instead of grabbing the first one that fit the criteria he compared, questioned, thought, deliberated, asked for advice. This totally took me by surprise! This is a man who buys all his Christmas presents in one shop, in one sweep! 1, 5 hours max! And he couldn’t find a mascara!

Can you relate to my husband’s misery? I can. Not only when it comes to shopping in the cosmetics aisle! Whenever I start something new like building a new website, choose a book cover for my e-book, trying to find a gardener, a dress, a marketing guru, a coach etc. I get so overwhelmed by all the different choices I am bombarded with! The bottom line is:  the more we know, the less we do! If you have ever suffered from indecisiveness due to information overload allow me to share this kiss with you:

Decide on what you want. And only focus on the one thing you want and need right now! Nothing else! Make a list of your needs and wants!

Find a great example of what you want and copy it! As soon as you found what you were looking for stop looking! Put your spin on the design, the colours and the wording! Stay focused!

And that’s it! Did I receive my mascara? You bet! I told my husband:”Get me Cover Girl, anything will do as long as it’s waterproof!”
