It’s so easy to get distracted. Lots of input from everywhere. So, it’s necessary to focus on where you want to go and why you want to go there and know that it is possible. Having a strong focus allows us to make the choices that support that direction and to filter out a lot of the distraction. Not saying all distraction is bad. Sometimes, we need it to give us a rest from working hard. As you know by now, I’m a big movie fan and use that to shut it all down for a while and go into another reality. There are times when this reality is just too much, so bring on the cooking show or mystery on TV, the great book, getting out the paints or planting flowers. Whatever it is for you. Back to focus. Strong attention on something makes it much more likely that you will achieve it. There is a caveat, however. If your focus is filled with anxiety and worry, you will actually push away the very thing you desire. Finding that balance between focus and allowing is the key. Think back to times when you wanted something. It was a strong impulse. You really wanted it. Then life stepped in and you thought about other things. However, unbeknownst to you, you set in motion the energy to bring you want you wanted. And, one day, out of the blue (but not really) it was there right before your eyes. That’s the perfect balance. Strong desire without worry and bingo - there it is. The second way to bring things about is to focus on them with delight. Feeling what it will be like when it’s right there in front of you. Enjoying it before you can touch and see it. Very powerful and double the joy, because you already are experiencing it and don’t have to wait until it arrives to delight in it. I watched the PBS special, “The Other Side of The Moon,” (fabulous by the way), which illustrated this perfectly. One of the Apollo astronauts talked about as a child, telling his parents he would go to the moon, and, of course, being told that was impossible. The desire was strong as was the belief and delight so the necessary circumstances presented themselves which he followed up on until finally ending up walking on the surface of the moon. He had a strong belief that he would have what he wanted, a key element in achieving what you want. Believing that it is possible, in the face of logic which will often tell you that you can’t. Tesla, the original, not the car, dreamed of things that people called crazy. But he is why we have internet and a whole host of things. Some of which are just now being realized. Something inside him knew what was possible and he acted on that knowing. It wasn’t just a desire. It was a strong knowing and belief. Strong, persistent desire mixed with excitement and belief puts us in the right place at the right time. When the doors open, we are there to walk through. What is it that you want? Can you enjoy it before it manifests? Are you taking the baby steps which you can right now? Do you believe you can achieve or have it when people tell you – no? You are powerful. You can make things happen. Just look at all those around you who have done it. There are no exceptions to these “rules.” You can too. Believe it. Know it. Enjoy it. It is yours.
