I Will Vote

Our city has just had an election for town mayor. As an entrepreneur it’s easy to get caught up and say you’re too busy, you haven’t had time to study the candidates, you can’t get off work to vote, etc, etc, etc. But, you had best pay attention for several reasons.

1. If you vote, you have a right to complain.
2. If you don’t vote, you don’t have a right to complain.
3. If you don’t vote, you’ve just voted for the winner of the election.
4. Our elected officials are making, amending and voting on laws that will affect our personal lives and businesses.
5. They will vote on tax laws that effect business owners and entrepreneurs.
6. They will vote on regulations that affect us.
7. They will vote on how we should or shouldn’t run our businesses.
8. They will vote their way if we haven’t let them how we are affected.
9. They will listen to the big companies who have the dollars to hire lobbyists.
10. They are voting on how our tax dollars are being spent and projects funded.

 
Let’s work to make them more aware how we are/will be effected. In Jim Clifton’s article “American Entrepreneurship Dead or Alive?” (http://www.gallup.com/businessjournal/180431/american-entrepreneurship-dead-alive.aspx) there are 6 million, not 26 million American businesses operating at a profit. Our America Inc is in trouble as more businesses are failing than surviving. We’ve got to get this back on track or we’ll have no businesses to fund our health care, infrastructure, schools, health, military and all the projects Americans want to have. It’s one thing to vote for a project and another to fund.
 
Let’s get back to what made America great. A need or want was discovered. A solution was found for the problem. Through hard work and creativity a business was formed, grew and employees were hired. These employees either learned the trade or were taught. Employers want employees who are skilled, honest, good communicators and  problem solvers or who follow the rules and produce so the business can make a profit or they will look for computer and mechanical solutions to their employee problems. 
 
So, it’s important we vote. Important we support the people whom we determine will best help get America back on track. If our candidate doesn’t win, we still must communicate with our officials. After all, they’re supposed to be working for us taxpayers. If that doesn’t work, perhaps you, the entrepreneur, should begin a campaign to get the word out.
 
How about having an Entrepreneurial Movement to make America economically healthy, cutting waste and government and encouraging entrepreneurialism at all levels? Bring the schools back into the communities and make them great. Let’s be proud to be Americans and show our concern by cleaning up our communities
