Recovering from the flu or whatever is going around isn’t all bad, it’s enforced time to reflect. I was thinking about something I read that said: the reason there is so much flooding now in so many places is because we have built so much and taken so much green space to do it that there is no earth to absorb the rainfall as there once was. Those words made me go search for some books. One of them was How Can One Sell The Air, A Manifesto for the Earth, author unknown. This: jumped out at me “All things are bound together All things connect What happens to the Earth Happens to the children of the Earth Man has not woven the web of life He is but one thread Whatever he does to the web He does to himself.” That sent me to another book, Love Letter to the Earth, Thich Nhat Hanh. From the chapter, The Time Is Now: “Many of us are lost. We work too hard, our lives are too busy; we lose ourselves in consumption and distractions of all kinds, and have become increasingly lost, lonely or sick. We’re no longer in touch with ourselves, our family, our ancestors, the Earth, or the wonders of life around us.” I watched a PBS special on Black Holes. Fascinating stuff. What stood out was this: there were scientists, all renowned, all top of their field and others were assisting them all working together on one project. What struck me is that science and the arts are probably the few remaining places we still work together. The rest of life is a competition to get to the top, or at least to stay where we are. We use that word, cooperation, but in truth that’s not what’s going on. Competition is alive and well. It’s justification - the competition for dollars. Either we learn to work together or we will be together in something we might not want. We have forgotten that we all live on a planet that also needs taking care of. Competition brings with it a disregard for others and the planet. I have seen examples of working together and it is life-enhancing and inspiring. Living that way, life takes on new meaning. We will not just be doing the same things all the time. We will be on fire with new ideas and the team will work together in bringing them into being. We will no longer be lonely and isolated even when we are with crowds of people. We will be aware of what is needed and we will do it. We will make the impossible, possible. We are coming down to the wire. What’s it going to be? You get to decide. Each of us gets to decide what happens next on this beautiful blue planet. Your only task is to live a life that makes you feel alive. Then you will be adding to the consciousness we need now. I know you each have something wonderful to contribute. Now’s the time. My best to you, Dianne www.entrepreneurmindworld.com
