What you think can change the world.  Actually paying attention to how you feel and the underlying thoughts can change your world and the world at large.  We are so used to being upset with good reason, of course, annoyed, not happy with ourselves that we just take it for granted that’s just how things are. We put up with feeling less than good and we also put up with others who are also doing the same thing and therefore not behaving well.  When we are not in harmony with ourselves we are split and our behavior and thoughts and who we are inside do not mesh. We are in conflict.

Most of the time we are so busy we don’t take the time to monitor what’s really going on with us.  It gets lost in the list of meetings, tasks, obligations.  But what is really more important than having good outcomes to the things that we want most, those things deepest in our heart.  When we are disconnected enough we don’t even know what those are.

I know i’ve been focused on these last writings on being more aware.  I can’t say it enough.  It is the basis for everything that goes on in your life and therefore in the world, since it is us that makes up what we call “the world.”

Just watched a 70’s movie last night - The Verdict with a stellar cast, Paul Newman being the lead. It deals with a case where doctors were negligent and as a result a young woman loses all abilities and goes into a vegetative state during a routine delivery.  Everything is stacked agains the plaintive  lawyer: the bishop who heads up the hospital tries to pay him off and the family brining suit; the judge is clearly in the pocket of the defending attorney; all of the witnesses who could help are paid off and disappear; a woman who becomes the lawyer’s lover is actually working for opposing counsel; and worst of al when the star witness who could save the day testifies, the judge disqualifies the testimony.

Everything is clearly lost.  Except that in his summation council says to the jury  - “You are the law.”  and puts it on them to do the right thing which they do.

We have become pragmatists - do whatever works.  But I propose that we do the right thing, by ourselves first since we are the only means we have to experience and act in the world. To paraphrase from The Verdict - “We are the world.  What we think and feel, how we behave creates the world. When we are in harmony with ourselves that is the world we create.  When we are split off from ourselves we create a world that is also split off.

It starts with being honest with ourselves and seeing clearly what we think, how we feel and as a result how we act.  Can’t say it enough.  Awareness is the key to everything because it doesn’t deal in right or wrong, it deals with our own behavior, what we are creating and how that sits with the deepest part of us.  Because no matter how we rationalize it, that part of us knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that our thoughts, emotions and behavior are either working for us and therefore for the betterment of the world or against us and therefore agains the betterment of the world.  Something to think on.

You have it in you.  Trust that you will find it.
Best to you,
Dianne
