Losing Your Balance

Looking at the political atmosphere that's current in the US right now is very interesting.  People who have never been involved in politics except to vote are now passionate supporters of one candidate or another.  I'm one that has never been involved except by ballot. This is a whole new experience.

But I noticed as I campaigned for my fav candidate how easy it is to get caught up in "this person is right and everyone else is wrong" syndrome.  There is something about the political process that awakens dormant passions.  I'm passionate about certain things but politics has never been part of that.  But now I have to catch myself from going off the deep end for my candidate.

I'm not sure why and what the dynamics are of losing balance in support of a candidate.  Probably if you combined the best of all of them you would have the perfect president.  Each has something that needs tempering Each has something they bring that is valuable to that high office.

The truth is that probably none of them is 100% right for the job.  Each has an area where they need to learn more and do more just as each has an area they excel in.

I think the passion comes in this time because it feels like there is so much more at stake right now.  As a nation we feel threatened by so many things: terrorism, healthcare that doesn't work as well as it should, violence in our own country among our own people, gun control.  Many many issues.

But maybe we should take a step back and realize that when we become so passionate about something that we lose our sense of balance it's time to stop and think about it.  Making someone the worst possible person and the worst possible candidate doesn't help anything.

When it comes right down to it after you've done your due diligence and research and thought it through just go with your heart. As with everything else in life - do the best you can. And trust in the process.
