Letting go and trusting that things will turn out right seems like an impossible task. Whether it’s with a business, a relationship or life in general.  But, in the final analysis, sometimes it’s the only thing left.

We hear and read stories over and over again of people who were between a rock and a hard place and they had no choice but to surrender.  Strangely enough, everything turned out just fine and actually better than they could have imagined.

When we start anything new even if it’s a new phase in our life, there has to be a huge amount of trust involved.  That’s why so many people cling to what they know.  They don’t think they can trust.  They feel the only way is the way they have known most of their life.  There is great cost to that choice, however. It can be overlooked for awhile.  But, eventually, the sense of aliveness and excitement about life begins to vanish.  A huge price to pay for keeping things the way they are.

During this time in history people well into their older years are creating businesses, moving to new places, learning new skills, competing in athletic events.  All things no one would have thought of doing, with a few exceptions, before.  In their advanced years there are people discovering who they really are.  What if we didn’t wait until that time?  What if we began right here, right now taking chances because we have a strong sense it’s the next step for us.  Actually, when we feel directed to do something or go someplace it’s not really taking a chance.  It’s following what we know in our heart and soul is the right course of action.

Often, we wait for permission from parents, peers, business associates, the experts, in order to do something we want and feel directed to do.  Maybe it’s time to stop seeking permission.  How could anyone know what is right for us?  They can only make choices in their own life not for anyone else.  The same goes for us.  While it’s easy to tell someone what they should be doing we have no idea what their journey is. Each one of us has skills, talents, abilities, gifts that we want and need to use.  No one but us knows what they are. And, most of the time we stumble upon them when we need them. We can be surprised to find we can do things we hadn’t imagined.

Don’t be afraid to use your many gifts.  Don’t be afraid to strike out in a new direction if you feel strongly guided to do that. You have resources available to you that you couldn’t even imagine.  There is a quote I remember inaccurately but the essence is there – “ If you want to do something do it. Unimagined resources will become available to you.  The Universe loves daring.”
